ASU's Brian Serven gets his first of two home runs against Stanford.

PHOENIX, ARIZONA (March 29, 2015) On an early spring afternoon with temperatures reaching 96 degrees, Arizona State University Sun Devil designated hitter Brian Serven gets five hits in five times at the plate, two of which were home runs scoring four in the seventh and eighth innings to lead the Sun Devils to victory over Pac-12 rival Stanford Cardinal by a score of 14-6 on Sunday, March 29 at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.

During the postgame press meeting, Serven was asked about his batting performance and commented "Both times I was trying to barrel it up, stay up the middle and stay with the plan." When asked about what it's like to be a designated hitter, "There definitely is a different approach to the game when you're just hitting. When I'm DH-ing I can focus on hitting."  He finished with, "Yes, this was the best game I ever had".

Coach Tracey Smith had positive words to say about Brett Lilek's pitching performance."He needs to give us that kind of outing on Sunday. I'm very proud of him for what he did. He knew his back was up against the wall, he responded in a very very positive way." He then went on to say "You've got to take advantage of your opportunities...When you're at the low of the low...This past week we had a candid talk... you have to give results. I'm very proud of him, he knew where he stood, and he responded well. He did an excellent job today".

ASU's Brett Lilek pitches 7 innings to get the win over Stanford
The Sun Devils will host New Mexico State in their next game on Tuesday, March 31 at 6:30 p.m. MST. The game will be played at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
