OSUs' Tim Arakawa safe at home |
This game was the last of a three game series to start the 2015 season. The Sun Devils' record is now 2-1.
The Cowboys took a 6-0 lead in the third inning and held on for their first victory of the year.
The sixth inning was full of action including a close call at home scoring Cowboys' Tim Arakawa (Honolulu, Hawaii) getting around a well blocked plate, a "hot box" which caught Cowboys' Gage Green between second base and third for an out, and a two run rally for the Sun Devils.
For the second time in three games, Colby Woodmansee hit a home run in the seventh inning, which helped provide a spark, but wasn't enough to catch up.
When asked during the post-game interview about his analysis on the three games against the Cowboys, Coach Tracy Smith responded "Baseball's important around here. We had a solid weekend but we're not satisfied. We're building depth today. We've got to get better. I want to know what we have before we go into conference play."
